Access passwords
uplook has three build-in levels of protection against
unauthorised access.
- A
password to access the program. It has
been applied in order to prevent unauthorised persons running and using
the program. If a password has been defined in the setup, when started, uplook displays a dialog box with
a password request. If the code entered is incorrect, the program will not
be started.
- A
password to access a current databaseIt has been applied in order to
prevent unauthorised persons opening a database. Such a situation may
happen when someone has copied a database to open it using another program,
which is not uplook. The program displays a dialog box requesting
for a password at each attempt to access a database.
- A code
to authorise Agent connection. This code makes it
impossible to connect with installed Agents
from a level of a program which is not uplook. The code can be set individually for each Agent.
To
define or change a password to access the program and/or a database, select Tools
Passwords... in the main menu. The screen
will display a dialog box for access passwords.
If you want to change a password used to access the program, select the Change field in the Password to access program frame, and
then enter the password in the New password and Confirm new password fields. While
entering the characters will not be displayed. If you want to delete a
password, do not enter anything into the mentioned fields.
If you want to change the access password to a database, select the Change field in the Password to access current database frame
and then enter the password in the New
password and Confirm new password fields.
While entering, the characters will not be displayed. If you want to delete a
password, do not enter anything into the mentioned fields. If all the fields remain
inactive, any database is opened. Note that the password is set only for a
currently opened database.
