Setting an access code remotely
uplook can establish a connection with each computer,
where monitor software operates, provided that it knows its IP address. It brings about the danger
that unauthorised persons might access confidential data. To preclude such
possibility, uplook authorises each
connection with Agent, which
involves comparing an access code stored in a database with a code stored
locally on a user’s computer. If both codes are identical, the connection is
established. Otherwise, it is not possible to establish the connection.
An access code can be set while adding a new user or editing an
existing one. However, then a code is saved only in a database, and a user’s
password stored by Agent remains
unchanged.
To
change both copies of an access code simultaneously (in a database and on a
user’s computer), a connection has to be
established with Agent. Then from
the main menu select Agent Set Access Code... A dialogue box for
an access code will be displayed on a screen.
In the Access code field
enter a text consisting of maximum 64 characters. A text may include any
characters, however initial and final space characters will be deleted. If the
field is left blank, checking of an access code will be disabled.
After you click the OK button, a new access code will be forwarded to
Agent and saved in a database.
