Assign licenses to users

Information specifying which programs can be used by selected users is a condition of reliable estimation of software audit. Licences can be assigned at two levels.

Specifying who is authorised to use a selected application

First, highlight a selected application on the list of licensed software of the Licences tab. Users which are presently assigned to this application will be displayed on the users list.

  • To add new application users, select Add Users … from the displayed context menu of the licensed software list, or select Licences Add Users... from the main menu, select Add… from the context menu of the users list, or click the button on the toolbar of the Licences tab. A dialogue box will be displayed on a screen.

From the Network drop-down list you can select the name of a network or group, the users of which will be displayed on the list. By default, the list includes all users who are not authorised to use a selected application. You should highlight all users who are to be granted rights to use a selected application.

When you finish the selection, click the Add button.

  • To undo the right to use an application, on the list (the Licences tab) highlight users, for whom the right is to be deleted. Then, right click the mouse and select Delete from the context menu, select Licences Delete from the main menu or click the button on the toolbar on the Licences tab.

Specifying licences a user is authorised to use

First, select a user on the network list on the Network tab. Then, from the context menu select Properties..., select Network Properties... from the main menu or click the button on the toolbar on the Network tab. A user’s dialogue box will be displayed on a screen, where you have to select the Licences tab.

The Applications used list includes the names of the programs, which can be used by a user. By highlighting one or more applications and clicking the button you can undo a user’s rights to these programs.

The Licences available list includes all licensed applications, which have been identified while defining licences. By highlighting one or more applications and clicking the button, you can grant a user with rights to these programs.

When you complete the selection, click OK or Apply.

The dialogue box described above can be also opened from the Licences tab. First, from the list of an application users select the one whose rights you want to change or view. Then, from the context menu select Properties…., from the main menu select Licences Properties... or click the button on the toolbar of the Licences tab. A user’s dialogue box with a Licence tab selected by default will be displayed on a screen.
