Editing user
To edit a user, select it from the network list on the Network tab. Then right click the mouse and from the
displayed context menu select Properties...,
or from the main menu select Network Properties... or click the button on the toolbar of
the Network tab. A user's
dialogue box will be displayed on the screen.
The
dialogue box includes the General tab
with a general user's data, the Licence tab
with a list of available applications and Agent
Setup, which enables Agent setup. The rules for assigning the
licence have been discussed in the chapter titled Managing software, and the
Agent's configuration has been described in Configuring
Agent.
The Name field includes a
descriptive name of a user, which is displayed in the network list. You can
change this name. It can be any string of maximum 64 characters. There is no
requirement for the name to be unique, however to for the sake of transparency
and order names should not be duplicated within one network or group.
From the Group drop-down list
you can select a group, which a user is to belong to. If the list does not
include the appropriate group, you can add a new
one by clicking .
In the Connect using... frame

You should select the Computer is
not connected to network field, only
when you want to use a computer (user) which is not connected to the network or
a computer without Agent installed on it. This information is required in
the process of reading software audit
results, which was performed using an external file
scanner.
In IP address fields you
should enter IP address of a computer user. After each three digit address
section the cursor moves to a subsequent edit field. If a computer’s name has
been specified in the DNS name, IP address is entered automatically when
you click the Get from DNS button.
If IP addresses are assigned dynamically (DHCP), to “become resistant”
to any changes of addresses you should use option which enables to identify a
computer on the basis of its name. To do so, select the DNS name field and enter a name of a computer. If an IP address is
known, the name can be automatically entered by clicking Get from IP..
The Access code field
includes a password which is used for authorising a connection with an Agent
which has been installed on a user’s computer and is a protection against
an unauthorised access to data. The access code has to be consistent with the
one specified while installing
an Agent. It can consist of maximum 32 characters including letters and
digits. It is case sensitive, however. Note!!! An adjustment made to an access code is
saved only in a database and it is not transferred automatically to Agent. To
change passwords both for uplook and an Agent, you have to change an access
code remotely.
Other fields are informative and they are filled in only, if at least a
single connection with an Agent was
established.
ID is Agent's unique
code and it is used to identify it unambiguously, even if an IP address of a
user’s computer has been changed
Host is a name of a user's computer.
System specifies Windows system version, which has been installed on a
user's computer.
Date of last audit specifies when the last software
audit was performed.
To accept data of a new user and to close the dialogue box, click OK. It is possible to accept the data,
not closing the window, if you click the Apply
button. The Cancel button closes
the widow, but no data is saved (if Apply
has not been clicked before).
