File types

uplook scans only executable files by default. It is however possible to retrieve information on files of any type. To do so, select Applications Types of Audited Files…. A dialogue box for defining new masks will be displayed on a screen.

The list includes all predefined file groups. Each group consist of one or more masks. Masks are separated by a ‘;’ sign. For example, the ; Audio group has been defined as: *.mp3;*.wav;*.mid;*.rmi;*.midi;*.asx;*.wmx;*.wmp;*.wma;*.wax;*.aif;*.aifc;*.aiff;*.au;*.snd.

To create a new group, click , enter the name of a group and specify file masks in Separate file masks with ‘;’.

If you want to delete a group, select it on the list and click the button.

The button enables you to edit a selected group.

You can disable a selected group of files to be audited by selecting the checkbox next to a group’s name. It is not possible to exclude executable files from audit.

To accept the selection, click the OK button.

Defined file types will be included when hard disks are scanned next time. If you want them to be included in audit which is performed using an external file scanner, you should prepare a disk with scanner files.

Definitions of file types are not used by MS-DOS Scanner and Unix/Linux Scanner.
