Flowchart
statlook software
consists of the master executive program and monitor programs (Agents), which are installed on a specified computer in the
network. statlook can operate provided it has been
installed in a TCP/IP network.
The flowchart below shows how statlook
can be used in a computer network.
Monitor programs (Agents)
have been installed on computers including Agent 1 to Agent 5. These programs
are run automatically when the Windows system is started and when users log
into the system. While the system is running, Agent collects information and handles all commands sent by the
executive statlook program.
Information sent to the executive program is stored in a database. To enable
the connection with an Agent, statlook stores in a database information on the configuration of a computer
network and IP addresses for all computers which are monitored by Agents. In the case of networks
consisting of a large number of computers, statlook
is capable to read the configuration of a network automatically.
To ensure the security of data transferred between Agents and statlook, each
connection is authorised according to the following procedure:
- statlook establishes a connection with
a selected Agent.
- When
the connection has been established, Agent
checks if the access password, which it has been sent from statlook, is correct.
- If any
discrepancy between passwords is detected, the connection is interrupted.
statlook monitors the network online, checking which
computers are working and on how many computers monitor software has been run. |
