General information - how statlook works?
Running program the first time?
statlook is a network program and it should be installed
on one, selected computer. Due to its function, this computer should be
maintained by a person authorised to check the legality of software and control
labour time, etc. If possible, the computer used by statlook should be modern. Processing data collected from Agents is a
process which usually requires efficient and effective environment. It is also
recommended that the performance of statlook's
desktop should be controlled by an operating system ensuring security (such
as Windows
2000, Windows XP). Obviously, the program also works properly in "home"
versions of Windows 98 and Windows Millennium.
Monitoring software (Agents) can be installed on network computers in a
number specified in the licence. There are no obstacles to statlook and Agent working
on one computer.
According to network typology, Agent is a server receiving instructions from statlook, executing them and returning the results.
To ensure the lowest traffic in the network and as a result to improve
its efficiency, statlook only in
special cases maintains more than one open connection with the Agent..
This chapter includes a general statlook
description.
