History of applications (processes)
Application
history is a statistics module which can be
accessed by clicking on the toolbar on the Statistics tab or
by selecting Statistics
History of processes from the main menu.
Each process (application) which is run on a user’s computer is
monitored by Agent. On the basis of
collected data, which is subsequently sent to uplook, the program provides complete activity history for a
specific application. This history is presented as a table with columns
containing the following information:
- an
application (process) name,
- a name
of a user who ran an application,
- the
date and time the application was run,
- the time
the application was closed,
- application
activity percentage which means a comparison of application activity time
with the time it was in the foreground,
- the
time an application was running in the foreground,
- the
number of key presses,
- the
number of mouse clicks.
The Summary table presents a summary overview for selected
applications. The subsequent columns include the following information:
- an
application (process) name,
- total time
the application was running,
- total
time the application was running in the foreground,
- total
time the application was (active) used,
- application
activity percentage,
- total
number of keys presses,
- total
number of mouse clicks.
Displayed data can be sorted by columns. To sort data, click a column
header.
By default, the history shows all processes, which have been run on a
user’s computer. It also applies to processes which are not applications and
have not been used by a user. You can limit your analysis to applications,
which were used in the foreground. For this purpose, select Statistics
Only Foreground from the main menu or
click on the toolbar.
To facilitate the analysis, you can specify aliases for processes names.
To do so, right click on a selected process and select Application Names Aliases… from the displayed context menu. A dialogue box for aliases
will be displayed on the screen.
It is possible to analyse only a selected application. For this purpose,
select a desired application from the drop-down Application list. Whereas by selecting the (System) option, you can display data for all applications.
| In the case of users who use their computers very
intensively, run and switch between applications many times, the quantity of
data stored in the uplook database
may be large. Therefore processing data related to processes (applications)
history may turn out to be a very time-consuming task, depending on a time
rage specified for analysis and computer efficiency. |
