Tip for administrator
-
To take full advantage of the remote Agent installation
feature make sure that the domain administrator has administration
privilledges on all computers, where he intents to install the software.
If he does not, it will be neccesary to know administrator passwords
on all local computers.
-
Process of remote installation requires the share ADMIN$
to be accessible on the remote computer. All the neccesary installation
files are copied to that folder. Make sure the option File and Print Sharing
is enabled on the destination computer. Service Pack 2 for Windows XP disables
that option by default.

1. The first step is to select a task. You can install, update or remove
Agent software.
To perform installation or update, you should select the Install/ update Agent software
option. Then select location for an installation file. By default, the file
is located in the same folder as application (
c:\Program Files\AplusC\uplook
as a standard). If an update file has been downloaded
from the Internet, you should indicate its location.
To remove Agent, select the Remove
Agent software option.
When you select the task, click Next > to proceed to the
following phase of setup. |

|
2. The following step is to enter a name and password for a user, who has
administrator rights on selected computers.
Enter a user’s name in the Name
field, and a password into the Password
field.
If the data is not entered or is not correct, it will be possible to
specify it, while connecting with individual computers.
After you enter a user, click Next>

4. The core phase of setup consists of the following steps, which are
executed automatically for each selected computer:
- establishing
connection with a computer;
- sending
installation files;
- starting
setup remotely;
- waiting
until setup is finished.
To stop installation, click Cancel.
When the setup is completed, a widow including a summary of operations
will be displayed.

|
|
5. A summary window includes a list of computers, for which the setup has
been performed. The icon means that the process has been
completed successfully. The sign appears if errors occur.
The most common reasons for errors include:
- an
incorrect user’s name or access password,
- the
lack of administrator rights,
- an
inappropriate operating system. A remote setup function is available for
systems such as Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP.
