Software licenses
To identify software licences, you should first define what licences are
used in a company. The list of such applications is displayed on the list of
licensed software on the Licences tab. The list
is built as a tree, where a producer is a master element and a software name is
a sub-element.
If you want to add a new application to the list
of licensed software, right click on the list and select Add Applications… from the
displayed context menu, or select Licences Add Applications... from the main
menu or click on the toolbar on the Licences tab. A dialogue box for adding
applications with a list of available applications will be displayed on
the screen.
The list of applications which can be added includes only these
applications which have not been added before. Besides, the list is
limited to applications which can be identified by uplook This base is constantly updated and it
can be downloaded from the
producer’s server. If the list does not include software which is used
within a company, users can create their uplook'a own pattern base with definitions
for used software.
To add selected applications, highlight them on the list and click OK..
When an application is added to the list, initially one licence is granted
for each selected one.
You can adjust the number of licences for a
selected application in several ways. First, you should highlight the
application, for which you want to change the number of licences. Then,
using and buttons you can respectively increase or
decrease the number of licences. You can also use commands from the
context menu Increase Licences Number and Decrease Licences Number or their counterparts from the main menu Licences .
Moreover, you can specify the number of licences directly, if you double
click on a selected application, select Change the Number of Licences… from the displayed context menu,
or Licences Change the Number of Licences from the main menu. A
dialogue box for application properties will be displayed on the screen, where
you can enter a desired number in the Licences
field. In this window a number of users using the selected software is displayed.
The adjustment made to the number of licences is displayed on the list of
licensed applications in brackets following a program name.
To delete an application, you should highlight it
on the list of licensed software, and then right click on it and select Delete Applications from the
displayed context menu, or select from the main menu Licences
Delete Applications . An alert box which enables you to confirm the deletion will be
displayed then.
By clicking Yes you accept the deletion. After an application has been deleted, data of
all its users will be updated. It is not possible to undo the changes.
The method described above is too laborious, if it is necessary to
delete more applications. In such a case, you can right click on the list
of licensed software and select Delete
Selected … from the displayed context menu, Licences Delete Selected ....
A dialogue box for deleting an application will be displayed on the
screen, where you should highlight the programs you want to delete (the
ones that are not used or do not have licence). Then, select the Delete button to confirm the
deletion or Cancel if you reject the changes made.
