Software licenses

To identify software licences, you should first define what licences are used in a company. The list of such applications is displayed on the list of licensed software on the Licences tab. The list is built as a tree, where a producer is a master element and a software name is a sub-element.

  • If you want to add a new application to the list of licensed software, right click on the list and select Add Applications… from the displayed context menu, or select Licences Add Applications... from the main menu or click on the toolbar on the Licences tab. A dialogue box for adding applications with a list of available applications will be displayed on the screen.

The list of applications which can be added includes only these applications which have not been added before. Besides, the list is limited to applications which can be identified by uplook This base is constantly updated and it can be downloaded from the producer’s server. If the list does not include software which is used within a company, users can create their uplook'a own pattern base with definitions for used software.

To add selected applications, highlight them on the list and click OK..

When an application is added to the list, initially one licence is granted for each selected one.

  • You can adjust the number of licences for a selected application in several ways. First, you should highlight the application, for which you want to change the number of licences. Then, using and buttons you can respectively increase or decrease the number of licences. You can also use commands from the context menu Increase Licences Number and Decrease Licences Number or their counterparts from the main menu Licences

Moreover, you can specify the number of licences directly, if you double click on a selected application, select Change the Number of Licences… from the displayed context menu, or Licences Change the Number of Licences from the main menu. A dialogue box for application properties will be displayed on the screen, where you can enter a desired number in the Licences field. In this window a number of users using the selected software is displayed.

The adjustment made to the number of licences is displayed on the list of licensed applications in brackets following a program name.

  • To delete an application, you should highlight it on the list of licensed software, and then right click on it and select Delete Applications from the displayed context menu, or select from the main menu Licences Delete Applications . An alert box which enables you to confirm the deletion will be displayed then.

By clicking Yes you accept the deletion. After an application has been deleted, data of all its users will be updated. It is not possible to undo the changes.

The method described above is too laborious, if it is necessary to delete more applications. In such a case, you can right click on the list of licensed software and select Delete Selected … from the displayed context menu, Licences Delete Selected ...
A dialogue box for deleting an application will be displayed on the screen, where you should highlight the programs you want to delete (the ones that are not used or do not have licence). Then, select the Delete button to confirm the deletion or Cancel if you reject the changes made.
