User groups
statlook enables to group computers (users) within a
network. The purpose is to arrange the network visually, dividing it into
logical units. If a company has many computers in various departments, you can
create groups respective to these departments, and then assign individual
computers to them. Obviously, division into groups does not have to represent
an actual network setup.
To create a new group, first select a network on
the Network tab.
Then right click on a selected network and select New Group... from
the displayed context menu, or select Network Properties from the main menu, or click the button on the toolbar of the Network tab. A dialogue box for a new group
will be displayed on a screen.
In the Name field enter a
name of a group. A name can be a string of maximum 128 characters. It has
to be unique, which means that within one network two groups with the same
name are not allowed. By clicking OK button, you will add a group
to a selected network.
If you click the Agent setup button,
a dialogue box will be opened, where you can enter Agent setup..
When the group has been created, you can start to define its members.
It is also possible to create a new group while editing or defining a new user.
To edit a user group, you should select it from a
network list on the Network
tab, right click on it and select Properties... from the displayed
context menu, or select Network Properties... or click on the toolbar on the Network tab. A dialogue box for this group will
be displayed on the screen. While editing, follow the same procedure as
for creating a new group.
Clicking the Agent setup button
opens a dialogue box, where you can enter
or change Agent setup.
To delete a user group select it from a network
list on the Network
tab, right click on it and select Delete
from the displayed context menu, or select Network Delete from the main menu. An
alert box will be displayed. By clicking Yes you will delete
the group.
Contrary to deleting a network, which
results in deleting all groups and users, deleting a group does not mean
deleting its all members. Users of a deleted group are assigned to the
network directly.
